Description
Mazzini 2024 Pinot Gris is fruit sourced from the Brown Magpie vineyard on the surf coast. This region of Geelong is true to style, noted for power, structure and bringing freshness and minerality to the wine. A small amount of Fiano was blended with the Pinot Gris to increase acidity and add texture.
Don’t take our word for it…
Gary Walsh from The Wine Front – 2021 Pinot Gris 93 Points
“Golden apple, pear, brine, a little perfume and a fair amount of spice, and this umami character – nuts and chicken sort of thing. It’s saline, crisp acidity, fine chalky texture and gentle pear skin grip, dry with ginger and spice to close, with excellent length and a little pleasant bitterness to cinch it. The Fiano component almost certainly adds a little X-Factor.”
Gary Walsh from The Wine Front – 2020 Pinot Gris 94 Points
“Perfumed and spicy, brown pear, sea spray. It’s juicy but fine, ginger, pear and raw almond, fine chalky texture with a pear skin grip, freshness too, some lemon cordial stuff happening on a finish that lingers long with spice and nutty/umami flavours. So nicely done.”
Gary Walsh from The Wine Front – 2019 Pinot Gris 93 Points
“It’s a good wine, has a bit of funk, chicken stock and brine character in with green pear and red apple, and a little cinnamon spice. Texture is good, fine and gently chalky, a nutty almond and sake-like flavour, fresh acidity and a pear skin finish of good length. Like this. A good rendition of Gris, and a good thing to drink.”
