The 2018 Mazzini Shiraz is from two distinct sub regions (The Surf Coast and Moorabool Valley) in the Geelong wine region. These parcels of fruit were hand harvested, then fermented separately in small open top pots with the use of wild yeast, then pressed to barrel for malolactic fermentation and matured in French oak for 12 months.
Don’t take our word for it…
Gary Walsh – Shiraz 90 points
“There’s no doubt about where it’s from; it’s so Geelong-y. Dark cherry, boot polish, pepper and sun dried tomato. Fleshy but only medium-bodied, savoury and spicy, but with sweetness of ripe tomato and blackberry, soft fine tannin, some tamarillo tang, and a nice even finish. In some respects, it drinks better than it sounds, and curiously, has a bit of Xinomavro character about it (esoteric, I know). No shortage of personality.”
