Our Story

Our Story.

Mazzini Wines was born of a love of Geelong for Geelong, celebrating its unique landscape and wine history.

Drawing from the historical model of the French négociant, each of the Mazzini wines are sourced from vineyards in the Geelong wine region.

Here the small batch production of Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Rosé, Pinot Noir & Shiraz result in wines that truly reflect their terroir.

This ‘social’ brand was built on relationships formed over bottles of wine. We sought the help from one of our favorite Shiraz makers,  Duncan Lowe of Rowsley Fault Winery, to help make our first small batch of Shiraz from the Otway Ranges from the 2016 vintage. This winemaking relationship continues to this day.

After enjoying many bottles of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from Lethbridge Winery, we were inspired to connect with winemaker Ray Nadeson to make our first Pinot Gris in 2018.

2019 saw the first vintages of what we describe as the hero varieties of the region, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, also crafted by Nadeson at Lethbridge Winery.

With no cellar door, you’ll only find these wines through our Mazzini website online shop, in restaurants, wine bars and independently owned retail stores. Please see our stockist page to support our supporters.

Where our grapes come from.

We source our grapes from all three subregions of Geelong: Bellarine Peninsula, Surf Coast and the Moorabool Valley.

Our Pinot Gris, Chardonnay are Single Vineyard – the Gris from a single block at Hillside Haven in Anakie and our Chardonnay from Yan Yan Gurt in Birregurra.

The ’19 & ’20 Pinot Noir may just be Geelong’s most representative blend, with fruit sourced from each of the sub-regions: Birregurra of the Surf Coast, Sweetland vineyard of the Moorabool Valley and from Suma Park and Hat Rock vineyards on the Bellarine. 2021 was a single vineyard from Yan Yan Gurt in the Surf coast

Our hallmark Shiraz is composed of fruit hailing from Moorabool Valley. All our wines are Vegan Friendly.
